The first question that you should ALWAYS ask! Builders must be registered with the Building Practitioners Board and have a formal written contract for most domestic work over $5000.
Builders completing work valued at over $12,000 must take out Builders Warranty Insurance and will generally have a registration beginning with DB-U (go to- www.buildingcommission.com.au to find an RBP).
